Gorillaz - Dare
This is quite a weird and quirky music video. Although it is shot with cartoon characters, the themes present within give me an insight into a different way of creating a music video. Pauses are used multiple times within the song to help create comedy as the characters do ridiculous things, but to also break the listeners away from the song. In one part of the song, a disorientating strobe light starts to flash. This music video creates a foundation for the way in which I might be able to manipulate the background images at certain points if green screen is used. Although the video comes off as weird at points,
Muse - Undisclosed Desires
This is another music video that would work well with the title of "Demon Dogs". The props and costumes within the music video look very retro and messy. From this I can learn that outfits and the setting in which a music video is filmed is important in terms of creating mood and atmosphere. The shots within the music video have been paced so that they compliment the actions taking place. In the production of the Demon Dogs music video we could film multiple shots and time each cut/fade to compliment the beat of the song. There are also a lot of flashing lights within the music video closer to the end. From this, I can learn that by manipulating the light levels within the music video I can help to create a disorientating effect.
Royal Blood - Figure It Out
This music video is quite alternative. During the calmer scenes of the video the colour of the shot is completely blue but as the video becomes more action packed the shot turns red. From this I can learn that I can create different meanings through the wide manipulation of the colour palette in Premiere Pro. I think this would also be inspiration for Demon Dogs as red is widely regarded as an "evil" colour. The shots during the red scenes are also very fast paced and close up, this could be useful for focusing on the expressions of the performing arts students.
